Taste for Travel’s agony aunt Sally Slaughter answers queries on travel ethics and the dilemmas of modern manners in her column Ask Sally. Inquiries: info@tastefortravel.com.au
Dear Sally,
I am going on holiday to Bali with my husband and his mother for two weeks. It’s a very long time to put up with my mother-in-law. I don’t think I can cope. What can I do? Michelle.
Dear Michelle,
Two weeks is indeed a long time to put up with anybody’s mother-in-law. However, Bali has a) cheap massages b) a shitload of bars c) handsome young men and d) many rice paddies.
So the chances are something will appeal sufficiently to keep her out of your hair. Otherwise you may wish to solicit a rabid dog and bring it back to your villa for a short time. One bite ought to solve the problem.
Graciously yours, Sally.
Going to Bali with a mother-in law… dig my heart out with a freakin spoon! NEVVVVAAAAA would i permit such a thing! hahahahahah kallo!
